(LOHV) is
to create, unite, and
strengthen local political action committees, which work to enact
animal-friendly legislation and elect candidates for public office who
will use their votes and influence for animal protection.

Limit
Tethering
Here
is a video made by Steve Markwell of Olympic
Animal Sanctuary
about a dog named Alex, who has lived his life on a chain.
This
dog had become so aggressive, even his owner did not want to approach
him. This video underscores the amount of psychological and
physical stress that dogs undergo who are continuously
chained.
The change in this dog once he is off the chain is remarkable.
LOHV is continuing our work on the Humane Treatment of Dogs Bill (SB5649)
to limit the amount of time dogs can be tethered. Please
watch for updates on this very important legislation.

Why is
it important to add your name to the
League of Humane Voters Database?
In
order to make a
difference in the treatment of animals in Washington State we must be
able to
influence the political process. Being an informed voter is one way to
do that.
However, just as importantly we need to be able to tell legislators in
each district
that there are many of their constituents who feel that humane
treatment of
animals is fundamentally important to them. The League of Humane Voters
is
building a voter database and we need you as a member in order to make
a
difference. Your commitment is simply to stay informed through our
website on
the issues affecting the treatment of animals. Please sign up today by
e-mailing mary@lohv.org.

the Animals.
God has given them
the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Don't trouble it, don't
harass them, don't deprive them of their happiness, don't work against
God's intent.
